Knitting with Susan H. Aguirre

Booga Bag

booga bag

I started reading knitting blog pages and everyone seemed to have knitted these cute Booga Bag felted purses.

The yarn looked so cool, so I decided to check it out on my trip to Needlework Unlimited. The pattern called for 3 skeins, and it wasn't too expensive (around $12 or so) so I figured what the heck.

I love this purse! The way it knitted up it reminds me of a beautiful sunset. The pattern was super easy too! I followed the directions exactly except for the length of the icord for the strap, which I made longer. After I knit it I wanted to finish my Fuzzy Feet slipper socks so that I could felt both projects in the same wash.

I put the 2 socks in one lingere bag, and the purse in another and gave them a hot wash/cold rinse trip in the washing machine. I added a bit of Murphy's Oil Soap because I had read to use soap vs. detergent. I set the machine for enough water to cover the items and the agitate/spin for heavy/fast. Both items felted to what I wanted in only one trip. My washer does an excellent job of spinning things pretty dry, so the purse only took one night to finish drying. I set the purse on a plastic wrapped box to help the bottom of the bag remain flat while drying. The box was just a bit small, but the bottom looks fine.

I would definitely make this purse again.

Of course, e-mail me if you have any questions.
