The pattern for these socks comes from the book Socks Socks Socks, edited by Elaine Rowley (offered for sale in my Knitting Bookstore). The pattern is "Ribble Socks" by Katherine Matthews on page 75 of the book.

These were a bit labor intensive because of the cables but I think they turned out very nice. I bought the yarn in the sale loft at Depth of Field Yarn. It is Country Cobbler by Brown Sheep Company, Inc., 90% wool 10% cotton and 132 yards. I used 2 skeins for the pair with some left over. I wish I would have purchased more of this yarn, because it was perfect! Of course, it no longer exists. The scanned color isn't quite right - it is a deep plum color.
